The Shimano SLX DC 150 HG and Grappler Type J B631 Light
Jig Combo takes the versatility and technology of the new
Shimano SLX DC 150 HG Baitcasting Reel and pairs it with the
strength and reliability of the Grappler Type J B631 Light Jig
Rod.

The Reel
Built on the same platform as the popular SLX baitcasting reel with
the addition of Shimano’s unique I-DC4 Digital Control Braking
Technology, the new Shimano SLX DC 150 HG Baitcaster
Reel takes your casting performance to a whole new level.
The Shimano Digital Control Braking System utilises a microcomputer
to monitor spool speed 1000 times every second and apply the
perfect backlash and maximise distance. This means less thumbing
and trouble-free casting in all conditions.

Inside the SLX DC’s Hagane Body, brass gearing delivers reliable
cranking power and three SUS bearings and one bearing means
everything turns smoothly. The reel incorporates a compact design,
with the same line capacity as Shimano’s standard 150 sized reels.
Featuring a gear ratio of 8.2:1 means that the slow and methodical
fisho who likes a bit of speed is well covered. On top of this, the
5kg mas drag settings provide amazing stopping power should it be
needed.

I-DC4 Digital Control Braking Technology
Shimano’s new Digital Control braking system utilises a
microcomputer to monitor spool speed 1000 times every second and
apply the perfect amount of brake to prevent backlash and maximise
distance.

VBS
VBS uses centrifugal force rather than magnets to aid in
controlling the cast. The individual brake weights, when turned on,
are forced outward at the beginning of the cast when backlashes
most often occur, causing friction that reduces the speed of the
spool. Once the spool speed begins to slow, the pressure lessens,
allowing the spool to continue spinning. The result is a much more
consistent spool speed that is easier t manage and takes advantage
of the reel’s maximum casting distance.

HAGANE Body
HAGANE Body means this reel has a high rigidity and zero twist. The
body stiffness and impact resistance virtually eliminates body
flexing. The result transforms the anglers actions directly into

Spiral X
Spiral X construction consists of three layers: a blank made of
vertical fibres, an inner layer and an outer layer, both comprising
of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite
directions. By using this carbon tape in place of a conventional
horizontal fibre sheet, Spiral X achieves enhanced torsional
rigidity without adding extra weight. This in turn facilitates
instant power transmission for precise casting and for fighting
fish. Through its exclusive lightweight structure, Shimano’s Spiral
X construction enhances your “catching power”.

Hi-Power X
In Hi-Power X construction, the blank’s outermost layer is
diagonally wrapped with carbon tape, which forms an array of X
shapes. The width of the tape, its winding angle and the part of
the rod being wrapped are fine-tuned according to the target fish
species. The flexibility allows Shimano to adjust these wraps
during construction for precise actions, enhanced overall strength
and added twist resistance. In short, H-Power X construction
delivers sharp and crisp rod control.
